Duct Tape Do It Yourself Car Repair
Want to fix your car? Why? To save money is the first thing I can think of. Another very important reason to do it yourself car repair is when you get stuck where no one can help you. These kinds of skills might equal your survival.
What will you need for a quick repair, like when your muffler drops and drags because the bracket holding it has rusted away? Remounting it will be difficult, so make sure you have a roll of black duct tape. You can get it at any hardware store Gorilla tape is good. That stuff can fix just about anything temporally, so don't laugh.
It worked for me one winter day when my pipe fell down. I held my muffler up onto the bottom of my car for quite some time until I could get it repaired properly. Put on you park break, and just wrap it around the pipe and a good spot near the break. Duct tape or gaffer tape will hold anything together. Get the pipe fixed quickly. Do not drive around like that for long.
Know your limits with do it yourself car repair. If you do not know your way around the parts of your car, then get to know it otherwise you might find it hard to fix. Generally pulling something apart is the easy part. Putting things back together as one is the hard part.
You have to know how to put things back together. To do this start by getting a piece of paper or cardboard, and place the parts you pull off on the paper in the order you took them apart. You have to number an label them so you will know the order in which they go back together.
It is very important that you have the proper user car manual for the make and model of your car. Study it!
Tightening a bolt, or screw is sometimes all you have to do. Or replacing a screw, so have extra fuses. The manual will show you where the fuse box is, which can be hard to find. So you must have tools with you. Get a ratchet set, a screw driver and a can of spray oil, which will help to lube rusty bolts. Don’t forget the jumper cables, which can save you in a pinch!
Just be ready, and prepared for anything and you might win the battle before it has begun. Do it yourself car repair does not have to be difficult if you are prepared, some things you will not be able to fix, so don’t leave without your cell phone. And if a tow is involved make sure you know how far the tow will go, so you don't end up paying a thousand dollars. Go here for auto parts Calgary.
