For the Rock Record $24.95 According to the idea of intelligent design, nature’s complexity is the result of deliberate planning by a supernatural creative force. To date, most scientific arguments against this form of creationism have been made by evolutionary biologists. In this volume, a team of earth scientists reveals that the flaws of intelligent design are not limited to the biological sciences. Indeed, the geological sciences offer some of the best refutations of intelligent design arguements. For the Rock Record is dedicated to the proposition that the idea of intelligent design should be of serious concern to everyone. Editors Jill S. Schneiderman and Warren D. Allmon have gathered leading figures from the geological community with a wide range of viewpoints that go to the heart of the debate over what is and is not science. The purveyors of intelligent design theories and its kindred philosophies threaten the scientific literacy that our society needs by confusing faith and the practice of science. This collection offers a much-needed response. |

Make A Top Notch Screencast Every Time With These Tips
It doesn't matter what kind of screencast you would like to record, whether it's a tutorial, presentation or a video containing few simple instructions - it's very important that you retain things professional. If your recording even looks slightly unprofessional, you have got very little chance of being taken seriously by your audience. So, how would one record an glorious screencast? Let's see...
Know What You're Going to Do: Rather than just winging it, it's best to have an outline for your screencast so you can be sure to present your information in an organized and logical manner. This step is necessary because once you start recording, you don't want to get stuck anywhere or have an uneasy pause. The smoother your video turns out, the more professional it will come across. Your outline doesn't have to be comprehensive, but it should make your job simpler by giving you a framework to work from so the presentation comes across more professionally. The best way to prepare for your screencast would in the same way you'd prepare for getting on stage and talking to a live audience.
Take Breaks: If needed, don't hesitate to take breaks. There will be times when you're not yourself or you're just talking too fast; in such a situation, hit the pause button. You're in charge of the process when you're creating your own screencast so if you need to take breaks then take them. However, taking too many breaks will spoil the flow that you're in, which will ultimately show up in your screencast. The last thing you want is for you to lose the momentum you need to get the job done at the last minute.
Edit and Do the Clean Up: Fine tuning your screencast and editing is a critical step that you shouldn't ignore. No matter how much you feel that your screencast is ready and has been done perfectly, there will be errors, glitches and patchwork that you'll need to take care of. These are the kinds of mistakes though that you won't see unless you're viewing the screencast with a critical eye. Another great thing to do is to get feedback about your screencast from someone you trust first. You want to show it to someone you know will be honest with his or her criticism and offer advice where there is room for improvement. Sometimes what we miss is noticed by the others - so before it goes live, get this step done.
Screencasts are amazing tools for education your audience and making important points. Be careful that you don't get too lost in the search for perfection that your point gets lost along the way.
