Jewelry Boxes: A Few Tips for Thorough Cleaning

Every woman treats her jewelry box as a private treasure trove. Every precious item collected over the years will find a place in it. Each piece of jewelry has its own unique story and this enhances the sentimental value of jewelry boxes.

Pieces of jewelry are things of beauty and they should rightly be stored in a beautiful box. There are a few simple steps to looking after your box and the first is to get rid of the clutter. With time we tend to gather broken pieces of jewelry, some that have lost a pair and others that we don't care much about any more.

When you finish removing the clutter, the next step is to clean the box. Jewelry boxes are commonly made of wood and come with soft lining on the inside made of velvet or some such material. Remove all your jewelry from the box and make sure to keep it safe in a purse or container, lest you lose them.

When you take out your jewelry from the box remember to place them apart from one another to prevent them from getting all tangled up. Delicate pieces also tend to get scratched when they come in contact with the rough edges of other jewelry.

Once the box is empty you can turn it over and shake loose the dirt and dust that is there in it. When you finish removing the clutter, the next step is to clean the box. Jewelry boxes are commonly made of wood and come with soft lining on the inside made of velvet or some such material.

Remove all your jewelry from the box and make sure to keep it safe in a purse or container, lest you lose them. Wipe down the inside of the box with a dry and clean cloth. Use a Q-tip for those edges that are difficult to reach.

When you are done wiping the dust away, use a damp cloth over the interiors to get rid of stubborn dirt patches or tape to pick off the lint. Air the box out completely before you rub it down again with a dry cloth.

If your box has a mirror, use a regular glass cleaning solution and a cloth to get it sparkling again. With this done, you are now ready to place your jewelry back into the box.

Don't pick up all your jewelry and dump them back in the box. The next step is to clean your jewelry thoroughly before you arrange your pieces in the box once again.

Cleaning your jewelry box and organizing your trinkets neatly doesn't take much time. Your box will always be ready for you to show off with no nagging worries about a mess. With time, you will be able to retain the sparkle of your jewelry for a longer period of time and will allow you to find the piece you are looking for instantly.
