Ways That Combat Boots Conquered The Big Screen

The 20th Century saw the evolution of combat boots – one minute they were purely something that was used for the military battleground, and the next, they were being worn by teenagers who required them as the latest fashion item. Combat boots represent the homogenisation of an item that represents authority into the mainstream culture of the Twentieth Century. Icons of popular culture in films can be seen to be wearing combat boots as well as those in pop music.

Films which feature people wearing combat boots are many, but notable films include the Sylvester Stallone action films about renegade soldier John Rambo. And again in films like the Dirty Dozen, combat boots form an integral part of the Dozen’s footwear. Combat boots are depicted in various ways on film, and no more is this apparent than in the title of the film ‘Your Mother Wears Combat Boots’ in which the phrase is used as a metaphor.
